The Search for the Perfect Sippy Cup

For months, I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect sippy cup. As I have quite a few friends with kids the same age or younger, I thought I would share my reviews. That way you will not have to buy as many sippy cups as I have, in order to find the perfect one πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073BM2M91/ref=mp_s_a_1_10_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522342266&sr=8-10&keywords=tommy+tippy+sippy+cups&dpPl=1&dpID=51jv94lpELL&ref=plSrch
The first sippy cups I bought were the Tommy Tippy Cups. Liam has always LOVED the tommy tippy binkies and for a good 8-9 months wouldn’t take anything else. A such, I thought it would be a no fail option. WRONG. These are my least favorite. While they have handles and Liam quickly learned how to pick it up, he would have to tip the cup way back to get anything out. AND by the sounds of it, regardless of how full it was, it sounded like my sweet boy was sucking straight air to his belly. Not to mention the first 12 times he tried it, he didn’t even figure out there was water in it because he was just chewing on the top. So my review on these 1/10 πŸ‘Ž
They are dishwasher safe though.

The second sippy cup was gifted to me by a dear friend of mine with twins! The Dr. Browns First Straw Cup! AMAZING. This cup taught Liam to suck out of a straw in minutes and he has been able to drink out of a regular straw cup from any restaurant since! Total win!! πŸ™ŒThe straw is flat so it is easy for them to learn at first, and it is also weighted, so regardless of how you hold the cup the liquid is going to come out! I was head over heals in love with this sippy cup for months. There were only two down sides. It has a lot of pieces and you have to religiously clean all of the pieces or from what I’ve been told, it gets really gross really fast. So I’ve been cleaning these cups every night after Liam goes to bed for months! πŸ˜‚ These cups are still my #1 choice for water! I carry one with me in the diaper bag all the time. However, when Liam turned a year, I started weaning him and I needed to find an option that was insulated so I could give him milk in a cup without it going bad right away. They just need to make an insulated one, with the same technology as these ones. I give these cups a 9/10.
Dishwasher safe!

The need to keep milk cold is what made me buy this $17 stainless steel insulated straw cup by Fogoo that claimed it would keep his milk cold for 12 hours! I was sold!! No cleaning out stinky milk sippys. AND there would be no learning curve because it was still a straw cup. Unfortunately, I was super disappointed πŸ‘ŽFirst off, it leaks all the time. It’s super finicky and rarely looks clean because of the stainless steel (I literally clean the outside with stainless steel wipes...because OCD πŸ˜‚) Second off, the straw doesn’t reach the bottom so Liam can never seem to get more than the first half of milk I put in the cup. (I never fill his cups full because he never drinks more than 3-4 oz at a time #breastfedbaby) And lastly, the worst part about this cup is that I washed it ONCE in the dishwasher instead of by hand to make sure it was totally sanitized and it broke and now leaks even worse. 😩😩😩 Super disappointed. 4/10
NOT dishwasher safe!

Next comes the Munchkin Click Lock Cups. I was bound and determined to find a cup that was insulated and didn’t leak! I had given up on it being a straw cup because I was convinced the perfect cup didn’t exist. These munchkin cups were great, they didn’t leak, they were insulated and kept drinks super cold! The only downside is they have to tipped back to drink and Liam sometimes needs help figuring it out. But overall 8/10.
Dishwasher safe!

Even though I had exhausted what I thought was every effort into finding the perfect sippy cup, I went on Amazon and was looking around when I found this cup for $30. However, after having bought all of these sippy cups to try to find the perfect one and the $17 one being one of my least favorite, I was hesitant to buy a $30 cup.

Until the other day, I went over to my mom's and she had bought Liam a sippy cup for her house. Sure enough it was 100% leak proof, a straw he could suck to the bottom, insulated and kept his drink cold for HOURS and to top it all off it was dishwasher safe!!!
And the best part it’s only $6.99!!
You better bet, I went straight to Fry’s and bought more for my house. It’s so easy to take apart, Liam loves it, he's not covered in milk when he is done and I have yet to have to clean out stinky milk. 10/10
WINNER!
They are also amazon’s choice and 2 for $10 on Amazon!
